The 6th Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art was the most important artistic event of 2015. It was organized by the Russian Ministry of Culture, the Moscow city government, VDNKh and Moscow Biennale Art Foundation. The main project, "How to live together? The view from the center of the city in the very heart of the island of Eurasia," took a form that was new in Moscow – a 10-day forum (Sept. 22-Oct. 1, 2015) followed by an exhibition that grew out of it (Oct. 3-11, 2015), featuring more than 80 Russian and foreign artists, researchers and critics. Artists created works for the exhibition during the forum. Participants included Babi Badalov, Sergei Bratkov, Isa Genzken, Els Dietvorst, Konstantin Zvezdochetov, Fabrice Hybert, Almagul Menlibayeva and Anatoly Osmolovksy, and the biennale special guests were Louise Bourgeois, Anish Kapoor and Mikhail Rovner. The parallel program and special-projects sections boasted over 100 solo and group shows.
Main project curators: Bart de Baere, director of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Antwerp (MUHKA); Defne Ayas, director of the Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art in Rotterdam; Nicolaus Schafhausen, director of the Kunsthalle Wien.
